Le Surf Spot – Capbreton/Hossegor, France
We’ve stayed here a few times and really love it. Chilled surf vibe, feels like a home and surrounded by great people . One of our favourite spots when on a surfing adventure. Say Hi to Ross and Lydia for us 👋🏼😉
Paraga Beach Hostel & Camping – Mykonos, Greece
Right on the point of Paraga beach, this hostel and campground setup was great value for money in Mykonos. It has a pretty sick pool and bar area and a beautiful view of the beach. We stayed in the six bed army barracks type dorms which was a buzz.
Supertubos Beach Hostel – Péniche, Portugal
Perfect if you’re keen to surf Supertubos beach hence the name. It’s a little far from Péniche itself but the hostel setup is great with cooking facilities and board hire available. Has a epic BBQ setup, perfect for that sunset feed.
G Spot party hostel – Lisbon, Portugal
We didn’t stay here but our friends did so we dropped by for the nightly pub-crawl which was good fun 🍻🥂 (from what we remember). Rowdy vibe in a good part of town + always full of your favourite people…Kiwis & Aussies 😂 Oh and family dinner every night too YUM.
Francesco’s – Ios, Greece
We had friends stay here, so once again we made use of the pre-drinks at Francesco’s. Such a cool vibe from this place! Travelers just keen to meet each other and get a little rowdy, plus the staff were laid back letting us hang out there for the afternoon. Has a pretty sweet pool setup too!
The Generator – Berlin, Germany or any Generator throughout Europe!
We stayed at The Generator Hostel Berlin in a four bed dorm and loved it! Dotted throughout Europe, The Generator feels sort of like the godfather of European hostels. Everything’s always super modern, big, open planned and new school. With so many hangout spots to meet people, always a cool bar and fun activities this hostel isn’t to be missed on your European adventure. We hear the Paris & Dublin Generator Hostels are epic too 🙌🏼
Chamonix Lodge – Chamonix, France
While living in Chamonix we spent a fair bit of time at this hostel during the summer and winter months. Heaps of like minded people keen to get outdoors and experience the mammoth Mont Blanc montain range. It gets lots of sun in summer so the hang out area is one of the best in Chamonix with hammocks, slack lines, a BBQ and spa.
Surf Maroc Amouage – Taghazout Morocco
So we unfortunately didn’t stay here but if you’ve read our Tagahzout blog post, you’ll know how much we wanted to. Another epic surf accomodation but with a luxurious vibe too – this is a bit more pricey than other options in Taghazout but would be worth it! Obviously not in Europe but wanted to throw it in there as getting to and from Europe is so easy!
PS – Surf Maroc have 3 other accomodations in Taghazout, all of which look SO SO GOOD. We honestly regret not staying here so don’t make our mistakes!!
The Flying Pig Downtown – Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Recommended by our friends who had an absolute ball here, this is the go to in Amsterdam for sure. Remember to book early as it books out real quick!! Party madness all round 🍻
Atlantis Hostel – Kraków, Poland
Perfect hostel for your trip to Krakow or in our case just for a night while we took the day trip to Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Wasn’t a party hostel, but Atlantis is cheap as chips, clean, has friendly staff and is in a top notch location. Can’t ask for much more.
Castle Hostel 1004 – Lake Bled, Slovenia
We loved our stay here while visiting Lake Bled and you shouldn’t stay anywhere else! Friendly/family type atmosphere and plenty of areas to chill. The best part was the honest activity advice from the staff, which we thought was pretty choice. “Don’t do this, it’s not worth it” or “Definitely have to do this”. Cheers guys!
Taso’s House – Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Family hostel feels, recommended to us by some friends who said it was magic ✨ Close to town and super cheap like most things in Mostar. Also part of The Balkan Backpacker association where, if you get your hands on the current brochure, gives you stamps on the back of each one (like a coffee card) and a free stay at the end. Mostar is one of our favourite spots in Europe so make sure you check it out.
Ps – we stayed at Balkanarama Hostel which was cool too but unfortunately is closing down at the end of this season hence why we threw in the above ☺
The Madhouse – Prague, Czech Republic
Highly recommended by some friends, the MadHouse has activities by day and parties by night! We went and checked it out while we were in Prague and it looked pretty bloody choice. Not a huge hostel (which we like) so lots of opportunities to socialise and meet new people.
Hostel Old Town – Kotor, Montenegro
Also part of The Balkan Backpacker group this place was dope, we even extended our trip it was that good. Has a sick pool tucked away in old town perfect to cool off on those boiling hot days. Check out the boat parties, sangria night and follow the nightly pub-crawl.
Himara Downtown Hostel – Himare beach, Albania
An intimate family run hostel, super chill vibes and helpful staff. A two minute walk from the beach and right in the relaxed town of Himare. SO CHEAP, the breakfast in the morning is filling & crazy good and the two restaurants next door were AMAZING.
Aktion Surf Hostel – Ericeria, Portugal
On the cheaper side of accomodation in Ericeria, this hostel is the nicest (accomodation and layout wise) place that we’ve ever stayed in! With a pool, skate ramp, great big kitchen facilities, free breaky and daily surf lessons/activities how can you complain?! A little far from the beach and town, but don’t let that put you off, it’s the best home away from home in one of the worlds best surfing reserves.
Caveland – Santorini, Greece
A unique hostel accommodation, situated in traditional caves so you really feel immersed in the Greek culture. Nothing but great reviews for this place. Stay here, grab a quad bike and explore the beautiful island of Santorini.
Jacobs Inn – Dublin hostel
The perfect place to crash on your trip to Dublin. Great facilities, clean and comfortable with heaps of info on nightlife, tours and all that jazz. We liked staying a bit out of Temple Bar as it gets pretty crazy at night. Ask about the famous pub crawl and get involved.
Homestel – Tirana, Albania
Our friends stayed here in Tirana and said this was one of the best hostels they’ve stayed in. With an epic rooftop terrace you can relax and watch the sunset away from the hustle and bustle of Tirana. Think chill vibes, nothing fancy but cool intimate feels.
Adria – Split, Croatia
Friendly, comfortable hostel right on the water in Split. Literally walk out the door and dive in the Mediterranean Sea. Serenity.
City Walls Hostel Old Town – Dubrovnik, Croatia
Vibrant hostel recommended by lots of friends. Looks like fun, plus is clean and reasonably priced for the popular city of Dubrovnik.
Hostel One Ramblas – Barcelona, Spain
Once again recommended by friends, this place has a sick setup and has everyday activities and partying. Great location for exploring Barcelona, one of our favourite European cities.
Big Fish Hostel – Budapest, Hungary
This hostel is a great place to meet other travelers, with a homey vibe and easy access to the city it’s a good choice! Stay here and enjoy the beautiful Hungarian city, its amazing.
The Rising Cock – Lagos, Portugal
A party hostel in a party town. So many people here on the same buzz, to drink and get silly by night, then hit the amazing Algarve beaches by day. Not to be missed if you love a good party! (The photo below doesn’t do it justice, but this place definitely parties hard).
Plus – Florence, Italy
Recommendation from friends, this is the place to stay when exploring Florence and all it has to offer. Ticks all the boxes, really good price for what you get and even has sweet swimming pool. Get amongst.
So…what a list!! With our fav hostels and recommendations from friends/like minded people, these are all guaranteed to be epic and up to standard for your Eu trip. Keep us in the loop with your thoughts guys and happy hostelling!!!
